Anyone who is charged with the care and support of individuals with complex and challenging behaviours would benefit from the workshop, for example, health therapists (rehabilitation), community service workers, childcare & child safety workers, criminal Justice workers, paid and unpaid carers.
Synapse believes that these seminars should be available to unpaid carers. We have recently had a number fo family members attend our seminars by contacting Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre on FREECALL 1800 052 222 to seek funding to attend this workshop.
The seminar aims to thoroughly prepare staff and carers for the challenges they might face in working alongside people that exhibit complex or challenging behaviours. The day program (from 8.30am until 3.00pm) will include understanding behaviour, positive behaviour support, techniques and strategies for communication and interaction as well as approaches for managing in a crisis.
Interested parties can register for a seminar in your area, or for further information contact the training department on (07) 3137 7400 or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Grant Blest, Synapse Training Manager, believes that now has never been a better time to talk about behaviour particularly given the fact that Queensland's recent natural disaster is likely to have impacted on so many people. Grant believes that challenging behaviour can be a response to the environment.
"The majority of Queensland has suffered a natural disaster and now has never been a better time to assist others in managing behaviour in a crisis, our training provides accepted internationally-recognised approaches while also being proven to successfully work in real world situations."
